"Launchees" is the term I use to refer to young adults who are getting "launched" into the first phase of their adult life. This can refer to anyone from the ages of late adolescence through their late twenties and early thirties.
It can be exciting to think about being independent and living on your own the first time. Some of you may feel anxious or ambivalent about it and that’s normal too. Even if you feel ready to leave home, more often than not there comes a time when reality hits after a few month or within the first year. You realize living on your own is not always easy. Issues may come up that are challenging and you have no idea how to deal with them. You don’t want to talk to your parents because they won’t understand. Or you are trying to show them that you can handle living independently. Perhaps you are not wanting to burden your friends with your issues because you know they are trying to manage their own stress.
How you deal with these challenging issues may impact your life more than you realize. It may not seem like much now. But if these issues don't get worked out they tend to get buried and over time become much bigger problems. That is why it's important to be as prepared as possible and to be able to seek support if needed.
You can really benefit from my coaching services especially if:
You aren't sure if you're ready to live independently or are anxious about moving away from home
You are feeling overwhelmed, depressed or anxious and don’t know what to do about it.
You're not sure what you want in the future.
School expectations are more challenging than you thought.
You're having trouble balancing all the different aspects of your life - school, work, family, friends, fun, self-care, finances, etc.
You are nervous about landing your first professional job
You feel all alone and pressured to put on a positive face to others
Transitioning into your adult-adult relationship with your family is difficult at times
You haven't found an inner circle of friends that you feel comfortable with
You're dealing with a break-up and you're having a difficult time getting over it
You're having challenges with your peers or roommates
Growing up isn’t as easy as one may think. When you are first learning to be on your own situations come up that you have never dealt with before. Often these are things you couldn't have predicted even if you tried. It’s okay. There is nothing wrong with you. You just need to learn how to manage the difficulties that arise in your life and learn how to stay focused on what most matters to you. It’s an art! With practice, support and openness you can learn how to become and feel more resilient and successful in your own life.
